The Indian T20 League mega auction is just around the corner, with just three weeks remaining for the commencing of the event. Bangalore is set to stage the auction on the 12th and 13th of February. Teams have retained or signed their players, and as many as 1214 players will be up for grabs in the auction. Teams have also started working on their strategies. Chennai skipper MS Dhoni has also arrived in Chennai to strategise the auction.
Chennai, the defending champions, earlier retained MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, and Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the auction. Dhoni was set to be retained as the first player by the franchise but the veteran asked for a demotion, saying that Ravindra Jadeja was more deserving of the spot, once again showing great modesty.

MS Dhoni retired almost two years ago, but he is still continuing to give his best for Chennai. It is being speculated that this will be the last year we see him in the yellow jersey. Dhoni led Chennai to their fourth Indian T20 League title last year. Dhoni is not the same player as he used to be but his value to the side in unmatched. The veteran is capable enough to contribute just by staying on the field and guiding the youngsters.
