After an emphatic win in the first Test, India will look to seal their maiden Test series win in South Africa when they clash with the hosts at Wanderers in Johannesburg. India have never lost a Test at the venue, having won two and drawing three of their five games.
The team has evolved as one of the best sides in the world, majorly because of the emergence of fearsome pace bowlers. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj have been at their ruthless best, decimating oppositions.
South African batting has been shaky since the retirement of big guns. Barring Dean Elgar and Temba Bavuma, they don't seem to have a dependable batter. Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen are class players in limited-overs cricket but they have not proven their credentials in this format yet. South Africa will need big runs from Elgar and Bavuma if they have to reach a score challenging enough to Test India.
Meanwhile, the visitors too are concerned about the form of the middle order. Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara are not in the best of form. Most of the runs have come from KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal and South Africa will be aware if they can remove the openers early, Indian innings can unfold quickly.
However, one thing that goes in India's favour is that all players are established cricketers and poor form does not mean they are bad cricketers. It only takes one good inning to return to form.
Pitch Report - The surface will be challenging for the batters. Day 2 and 3 will be the best time to bat. The weather forecast is not very promising with overcast conditions and plenty of rain predicted.
