India faces Australia in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Hosts were trailing Visitors by 175 runs till the Lunch of Day 2 with six wickets in hand. India is looking to get a steady lead in the first innings to counter Australia on a slow-turner track. However, India pacer Mohammed Shami believes the same and said that it will be a big help for the bowlers if batters can get a lead.

Earlier, on Day 1, Shami shined for India with the ball as he took four wickets to bundle up Australia under 300. Apart from him Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja shared six wickets themselves as both took three wickets each. However, after the game, Shami told reporters that India will be in a comfortable position if batters manage to get a steady lead.

"The opponent has only one fast bowler. We just need to be careful with bounce and turn. If we can get a small lead it will be very good for us. There is not a lot of difference you see with wickets in India. If you can get help with the new ball and can get the old ball to reverse... As a fast bowler, the main thing in Indian conditions is the area you bowl in and you have to maintain pace all along,” said Mohammed Shami during the presser.

Nathan Lyon puts India under pressure

Talking about the game, India lost four wickets in the first session of Day 2 and is under pressure against the Aussies. In the morning session, ace Australian spinner Nathan Lyon trapped Indian batters and strike thrice within some minutes. Lyon first struck KL Rahul in front of the wickets and dismissed him for 17 runs. After that, he departed India skipper Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara in quick successions. However, Virat Kohli, along with allrounder Ravindra Jadeja, built a steady partnership, but both eventually lost their wickets.
