On 9 October 2022, India locked horns with South Africa for the second ODI of the series in Ranchi. After losing the series opener in Lucknow, India were looking to win this match to keep themselves alive. On the other hand, the Proteas were looking to win this match to seal the ea; with one more match to go.
Meanwhile, Temba Bavuma did not play the match. Hence, Keshav Maharaj got the opportunity to lead the team in Bavuma’s absence. Shikhar Dhawan and Maharaj came out for the toss. Match referee Javagal Srinath also came out for the toss. But, a funny incident took place during that event which went viral.

Shikhar Dhawan and Keshav Maharaj shared a light moment as Javagal Srinath forgot to give the toss coin
Speaking of the video, Sanjay Manjrekar was there as the presenter. Then, he asked for the toss but both captains were clueless as no coins were there. Then, Srinath gave the coin as he forgot to give it to the Indian skipper. The Indian Cricket Board shared the same video on their Twitter account.
Speaking of the match, South Africa won the toss and they elected to bat first. Keshav Maharaj confirmed two changes that the Proteas made from the last match. They went with Reeza Hendricks and Bjorn Fortuin in place of Bavuma and Tabraiz Shamsi. On the other hand, India also made two changes.
They brought in Washington Sundar and Shahbaz Ahmed in place of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravi Bishnoi in their playing XI. However, at the toss, Shikhar Dhawan said: “We would have bowled first actually, there is going to be dew in the second innings and we are gonna take advantage of that. Two changes for us. Washington Sundar coming in and Shahbaz Ahmed is making his debut today. Ruturaj and Ravi Bishnoi are out." As of now, South Africa have scored 256 runs for five wickets in 46 overs. Both Hendricks and Markram scored valuable fifty-plus scores for their country.
