India started the T20 series against Sri Lanka with a great win. The T20 action now moves to Dharamsala for the 2nd and the 3rd match. In the first T20, only four batters got a chance to bat, and three stood out with their performances. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma gave India a fiery start before Shreyas Iyer gave them the perfect finish. Rohit Sharma scored 44 runs and Ishan Kishan scored 89 runs with a strike rate of close to 160. Shreyas Iyer also scored a half-century with a strike rate of 203.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, never looked in the game. With the ball, they were pretty ordinary. This allowed India to score with freedom and post a huge total of 199. They were not effective with the bat either. Sri Lanka never took charge of the run chase and handed over wickets in a sloppy fashion at regular intervals. Barring Charith Asalanka, none of the batters stood up.
In the next match, Sri Lanka will have to work on all three departments. They will have to be more attacking with the bat and ball. India, on the flip side, looked good for most of the match. However, there is a scope for improvement in the fielding department. They dropped a few easy chances in the first game.
Pitch report
The pitch on Dharamsala has good offerings for fast bowlers. Considering the weather and the pitch conditions, the game should not be a high-scoring one. The team winning the toss might bowl first to take advantage early on.
