Former India skipper Virat Kohli has joined the net session of the Indian team after having a break from bio-bubble. Kohli was given a break ahead of the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka last month. Ahead of the Test series, starting from March 4 in Mohali, the former skipper was spotted practicing with the team. The upcoming match against Sri Lanka will be his 100th in the longest format.

Apart from the right-hander, pacer Jasprit Bumrah has also joined the team ahead of the two-match series. Bumrah was rested ahead of the white-ball assignments against the West Indies and Sri Lanka last month. Shubman Gill, who last played for India against New Zealand last November, also practiced with the team.

Apart from them, players such as  Hanuma Vihari, KS Bharat, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mayank Aggarwal were seen practicing with the team. Kuldeep Yadav played against West Indies and Sri Lanka in one ODI against the former and one T20I against the latter. Notably, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also practiced with him being subjected to fitness while being named on the Test squad.

Ahead of Kohli's 100th Test, the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) has announced that the match will played behind close doors. Meanwhile, the team will play without the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma and Wriddhiman Saha as the trio has been dropped for respective reasons.

Pujara and Rahane have been dropped due to their poor run with the bat in the last calendar year. On the other hand, Saha has been dropped as the team management wants to invest in a youngster such as KS Bharat.
