The first ODI between India and West Indies will be played on the 6th of February. This match will be a historic event as India will be playing their 1000th ODI. After some disturbances created in the camp due to the Covid outbreak, the teams have now begun their training at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, and Navdeep Saini won't be available for India after resting positive. KL Rahul is unavailable for the first match as well.

In their last white-ball series, India was whitewashed by the South African team. Nothing went their way, and most players looked out of rhythm. This series against the Windies will be an important one to regain their confidence. Led by a new full-time captain, Rohit Sharma, this team has players that can achieve big for the team.

West Indies, on the other hand, is coming straight from a thrilling series win against England. They won the T20 series 3-2 at home against one of the best T20 sides. They have trusted some of their experienced players who will have to deliver against India, which is a tough opposition to beat even in their difficult times. The players will be high on confidence after the last series win and would be looking forward to this series

Pitch Report

The wicket at the Narendra Modi Stadium has always favoured spinners. There always is a good amount of turn in the wicket, and the scores here are not generally high. Dew is a major factor here and the team batting in the latter half will be happier. The team winning the toss would want to chase the target.
