The first ODI between India and West Indies was won comprehensively by India.  Asked to bat first, the Kieron Pollard-led side was restricted to 176 all-out. Only Jason Holder (57) could show some resistance against some high-class bowling from Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar. They took four and three wickets respectively. A supporting role in the bowling department was played by pacers, Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj with two and one wickets respectively.

In reply, the Men In Blue chased down the target in 28 overs, losing four wickets. Rohit Sharma showed his class in his comeback game with fluent 60 runs. Suryakumar Yadav (34) and debutant Deepak Hooda (26) did fine with the bat.  India at the moment seem to have all their bases covered. Runs from Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda is a big plus. Rohit at the top makes this Indian batting look daunting. The spinners bowled well and West Indies will have big challenge against them in the next game. Shai Hope will be a big player for them as he is someone who can bind the innings together. If he gets out cheaply, West Indies will be in trouble again.

Pitch Report

The game will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The wicket assisted spin bowling in the last game thus spinners will be key for both teams. However, dew can spin the plans of teams bowling second.
