BCCI has given the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) a green signal to host a larger crowd for the 3rd T20 against West Indies. The CAB had earlier requested the BCCI to allow spectators in the upper blocks of all the stands at Eden Gardens. Notably, BCCI had announced there will be no crowd present for any of the matches in the series despite the West Bengal government's allowance.
A small crowd has been allowed in the hospitality area and the Club House upper tier for the first two games. India earlier whitewashed West Indies in the three-match ODI series played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
As confirmed by Indian Express, Sourav Ganguly sent an email to the CAB chief Avishka Dalmiya saying, "As discussed with other OB, as per your request, you can open up for the last T20 match against West Indies at Eden."
Rohit Sharma led the Indian team to a three-match win in the ODI series. India's bowling was on point throughout the matches. However, batting was a concern for them for the most part. Their performance improved by a lot in the third match.
From the West Indies' point of view, they too need to work on their batting. They failed to get to 200 in either of the matches. The performance in the T20 games can be a lot better as this is the format they excel at. They recently beat England at home in a five-match series, 3-2. Their bowling has been a lot better than their batting, however, there is still scope for improvement in that department.
