The Indian team is all set to take on South Africa for a three-match T20I series starting on the 28th of September. This series will be very important for the men in blue as they prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
Ahead of the series against the Proteas, India has made a few adjustments to its squad. Deepak Hooda has been ruled out of the series due to a back injury sustained during the series against Australia. The all-rounder is being treated at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore for his injury.
Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have also reported to the NCA for conditional training. On the other hand, Arshdeep Singh has arrived in Thiruvananthapuram to join the squad. Mohammed Shami is still recovering from COVID-19 and will be unable to compete in the series.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Umesh Yadav to replace Shami, and Shreyas Iyer to replace Hooda. Shahbaz Ahmed has been added to the T20I squad as well. All three players will have something to prove and will need to perform well in order to secure a permanent spot in the team setup.
These three T20I matches will be the squad's final matches before the World Cup in Australia. All of the players will be looking to do well and prepare for the crucial tournament. This is also an opportunity for skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid to address the issue of death bowling.
