Ahead of the rescheduled Test match against England, India is playing a warm-up game against Leicestershire. India ended day three with a score of 364 runs on the board. They lost seven wickets in the process. The third day witnessed an exceptional display of batting from the former Indian captain Virat Kohli. He scored 67 runs in 98 balls in the innings.
India's all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also scored a half-century in the match. He remained not out on 56 runs in 77 balls at the end of the day. Notably, Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer got to bat twice in the second innings for India. Since this is a practice match, the players can do so. While Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed on a duck when he batted first, Iyer was run-out on a score of 30 runs. He then added 32 more runs to his tally.
On the other hand, Cheteshwar Pujara, who batted for Leicestershire in the first innings, batted for India in the next. The veteran cricketer scored 22 runs in 53 balls for India before getting stumped on the delivery by Sai Kishore. He was out for a duck when he batted for Leicestershire in the first innings.
In the first innings, Srikar Bharat was the standout batter for India. He had scored 70 runs in 111 balls. Virat Kohli also looked in good touch with the bat. However, he could only manage 33 runs with the bat. In return, Rishabh Pant played a quick knock of 76 runs in 87 balls. He hit 14 fours and one six in his stay at the crease. He helped Leicestershire score a total of 244 runs, handing India a two-run lead.
As far as India's bowling is concerned, Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja were at the top of their game. Each too three wickets in the first innings, while Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj took two wickets each. India's net bowlers Navdeep Saini, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and Sai Kishore bowled for Leicestershire in the second innings, taking three, two, and one wicket, respectively.
