India is missing Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the WTC final: Aakash Chopra

Former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra feels that India is definitely missing Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the ongoing ICC WTC against New Zealand. His comments came after the Indian pace trio of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah failed to get enough swing against the Kiwi batsmen on the third day's play. In his latest YouTube video, Aakash Chopra opined that Bhuvneshwar could have played the out-and-out swing bowler's role just like the NZ bowlers. He also feels Kumar could have been perfect in Southampton and would have troubled the New Zealand batting line-up.

Aakash Chopra- Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra feels that India is missing Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the ongoing WTC final against New Zealand. His comments came after the Indian pace trio of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah failed to get enough swing against the Kiwi batsmen on Day 3. In his latest YouTube video, Aakash Chopra opined that Bhuvneshwar could have played the out-and-out swing bowler's role just like the NZ bowlers. He also feels Kumar could have been perfect in Southampton and would have troubled the New Zealand batting line-up.

Aakash Chopra further stated that Ishant Sharma is the only Indian fast bowler who gets decent swing. On the other hand, Shami and Jasprit Bumrah majorly rely on seam movement.

Bhuvneshwar was India's key bowler in their 2014 tour of England

Earlier, Bhuvneshwar Kumar stated that he only wants to focus on white-ball cricket for the time being. He has featured in only 21 Tests, where he has scalped 63 wickets. His last Test appearance was during India's 63-run victory against South Africa in the Johannesburg match in early 2018. Back then, the bowler returned with the Man-of-the-Match award, with 63 runs and 4 wickets overall.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was India's key bowler in their 2014 tour of England. The pacer scalped 19 wickets in the five Tests and also contributed 247 runs with the bat. In March, Bhuvneshwar also won the Player of the Month award for his brilliant performance in the series against England. The 31-year-old seamer picked up six wickets with an economy rate of 4.65 in the three ODIs. Bhuvneshwar also picked up four wickets with a fantastic economy rate of 6.38 in the five T20Is to emerge as the standout bowler in the white ball series.

Meanwhile, Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar has been named as the vice-captain of the team during the tour of Sri Lanka. The right-arm quick will be travelling to Sri Lanka for a 3-match ODI series and as many T20Is, to be played next month. The three One Day International games will take place on July 13, 16, and 18. On the other end, the T20I series will take place on July 21, July 23 and 25.
