India is set to play the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against New Zealand starting June 18th. The series will take place at the Ageas Ball in Southampton.
Yuvraj Singh mentioned that the Indian team might be at a ‘slight disadvantage’. He noted that the case would be different if there had been three matches. This was also noted by Kapil Dev and Ravi Shastri, the former Indian Captain and the current Indian coach respectively.
Team India hasn’t played a Test match for over three months. In contrast, New Zealand is playing against England in a two-match test series.

Singh believes that India currently has better batting talent than New Zealand. However, both teams have similar bowling capabilities. Although the Indian team would have around 8-10 practice matches, it wouldn’t be the same as getting to play the real deal.
Yuvraj Singh also expressed his belief in the talent of the current team. The Indian openers, Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma have proved to be very talented. Their inexperience might be a hindrance as both the cricketers have not played in England.
The former Indian cricketer opined that one has to be adaptable to play in England. The Duke's ball tends to swing erratically which adds to the challenge and unpredictability.
Singh also verbalized his support for the 21-year old batsman, Shubman Gill, who had a strong debut in Australia. More recently, he failed to perform as impressively at home against England. Nevertheless, Yuvraj believes that if Gill backs himself he would be set to perform well at any place in the world.
The Indian Team is currently quarantining at a hotel in Southampton. In August, India is set to play against England in a 5-match Test at Nottingham.
