India is celebrating it's 73rd Republic day today. Wishes have been pouring in for the country from all corners from the world. West Indies stalwart Chris Gayle also wished Indians on the celebrated Day and revealed that he received a special message from Indian PM Narendra Modi on the auspicious Day. Gayle is a superstar in India and enjoys a massive fan following, mainly because of his stint in the Indian T20 League. Gayle has been part of the tournament since it's inception and played a major role in its success. He played for multiple franchises but his best came for Bangalore, where he amassed over 3400 runs.

"I would like to congratulate India on their 73rd Republic Day. I woke up to a personal message from Prime Minister Modi @narendramodi reaffirming my close personal ties with him and to the people of India. Congratulations from the Universe Boss and nuff love ❤️🙏🏿," Gayle tweeted.

T20 great Chris Gayle has opted out of the mega auction to be held on February 12 and 13 this year. This is the first time he will not be part of the tournament since its inception in 2008. Gayle shattered many records while playing in the Indian T20 League. He still holds the record of highest individual score in Indian T20 League. He scored a mammoth 175 against Pune. He played for Punjab last season and opted out in the middle of the second phase due to bio-bubble fatigue.
