India secured a two-wicket victory against West Indies in the second one-day international to go up 2-0 in their series. Axar Patel led the Indian side to victory in the last over of the match at Queen's Park Oval, which was once again the scene of a batting storm. With this victory, the squad led by Shikhar Dhawan won the series with one game remaining.

Shahi Hope, who was playing in his 100th ODI, and Kyle Mayers gave West Indies a solid start at the top. In the opening nine overs, they scored 65 runs as they maintained their onslaught. India finally got the breakthrough thanks to the early use of spin. Mayers (39) was out on the first ball of the tenth over by Deepak Hooda.

In the 22nd over, Nicholas Pooran joined Hope in the middle as the home team's run rate slowed down a little and they lost two more wickets to spin. The two played smart cricket to help the team get in a better position. Hope was able to hold on to one end, with Pooran occasionally hitting the ball for a six. They contributed 137 runs collectively, raising the team total to 247 runs.

Pooran managed to score 74 runs in 77 balls while Hope (115) went on to hit a century. West Indies was restricted to 311 runs, thanks to Shardul Thakur's three-wicket haul in the death overs. Shikhar Dhawan (13) and Shubman Gill (43) batted cautiously but lost their wickets early on, giving India's chase a rough start.

Suryakumar Yadav (9) was also quick to depart. The men in blue were reduced to 79/3 in 17.2 overs. With half-centuries from Sanju Samson (54) and Shreyas Iyer (63), the game was once again in India's hands. Their important 126-run partnership helped India reach 205 in 33 overs. Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel continued to score runs after losing Iyer and Samson.

The latter, in particular, gave it his best to lead his side to victory. Patel was left to do the job by himself with the tail after Hooda's (33) wicket. He maintained the boundaries while completing his half-century. The all-rounder finished the job by smashing a six on the fourth delivery of the last over to help his team win by two wickets. With three fours and five sixes, he scored 64 runs in 35 balls to remain undefeated.
