Ben Stokes’ England made a strong comeback on the second day of the ongoing third Test against India after the latter posted a total of 445 runs in the first innings. In response to India’s 445, England had posted a total of 207 runs for the loss of 2 wickets at the time of stumps on day 2 of the Rajkot Test.

Star opener Ben Duckett smashed a quick century, playing an unbeaten knock of 133 runs off just 118 balls, with 21 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from Duckett, number three batter Ollie Pope also scored 39 runs, with 5 fours and a six before getting dismissed in a controversial DRS decision.

At the end of the day’s play, the former skipper and the veteran batter, Joe Root also went unbeaten at the individual score of 9 runs, alongside the centurion of the day, Ben Duckett.

India's Ravichandran Ashwin achieves the historic milestone

The veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and pacer Mohammed Siraj picked one wicket each for India in the first innings. Besides all this, the modern-day spin legend Ravichandran Ashwin also achieved a big milestone as he completed 500 Test wickets in his career. He also became the second-fastest bowler in international cricket to achieve the milestone of 500 Test wickets. For India, Ashwin became the fastest bowler to claim 500 Test wickets both in terms of matches played and the balls bowled.

Earlier on the second day of the ongoing Rajkot Test, India resumed their batting from the overnight score of 326 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Amidst a fall of wickets at quite regular intervals, the 77-run partnership for the 8th wicket between Ravichandran Ashwin and the debutant wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel helped India to post a competitive total of 445 runs at the time of the end of their first innings.

After the end of the day’s play, the fans also appreciated the Bazball and the explosive intent of the star England opener Ben Duckett for hitting an amazing century.
