India is all set to tour Ireland for a two-match T20I series, starting 26th June 2022. The Indian team will feature a new captain in Hardik Pandya for this series. Most of the senior members of the team are busy with the preparations for the series against England. In this absence, Hardik Pandya has been given the responsibility to lead the Indian Cricket Team for the first time in his career.
Pandya impressed everyone with his captaincy skills as he guided his team, Gujarat, to a title win in their debut season in the Indian T20 League 2022. He will have a huge responsibility to fulfill in the series.
While most of the players from India's last T20I series against South Africa have been retained, there will be a few new faces in this series. Suryakumar Yadav, who missed the previous series due to an injury, will return to the side along with Sanju Samson. The wicketkeeper will have a point to prove as he has been constantly in and out of the Indian team.
On the other hand, Rahul Tripathi has earned his maiden Indian call-up. The young batter had an impressive Indian T20 League season 2022 and will like to maintain that form in the series.
This would be an opportunity for all of the young players to boost their prospects of making into the Indian 20-20 World Cup team. Australia will host the 20-20 World Cup 2022 later this year. The squads for the same are to be announced by the 15th of September.
Head to Head Record
India and Ireland have faced each other on three occasions in the shortest format of the game. The Indian team, however, has a dominant record as they have won in all three instances.
