With only a few days left for the start of the five-match T20I series between India and South Africa, the fans are excited to see which Indian player does well. After all, the BCCI selectors have put together a second-string side for the series. A lot of senior players have been rested citing the tour to England. The players who made it to the squad have either played for India or have got maiden call-ups.

These players earned their selection after doing well in either the domestic circuit or the Indian T20 league. However, it is not going to be easy for the home side as the Proteas will play with a full-strength squad. Some of these players are untested at the highest level. Meanwhile, in this listicle, we will discuss three Indian batters who might be the leading run-getters in the series.

Three players who might do well

  1. Dinesh Karthik

The wicketkeeper batter had a dream season in the Indian T20 League 2022 with the bat. The right-hander amassed 330 runs in 16 games at an average of 55 and an astonishing strike rate of 183.33 while playing the role of a finisher. Coincidentally, the team is looking for a finisher with 20-20 World Cup to be played this year. The Tamil Nadu player would like to seize the opportunity as he has stated that he wants to play in the 20-20 World Cup later this year. With the kind of form he is in, he might carry his form in the series.

2. Deepak Hooda

The middle-order batter had a decent time in the 15th season of the Indian T20 League. He scored 451 runs in 15 games at an average of 32.21 and a strike rate of 136.67 including four fifties.

The right-hander batted on a few different positions but his form remained intact. Also, he made his international debut early this year and would like to cease the opportunity with the showpiece event only a few months away.

3. KL Rahul

The skipper of the team for this series had another fine season in the 2022 edition. He scored 616 runs in 15 games at an average of 51.33 and a strike rate of 135.38 including two hundreds.

As he is the opening batter of the team, he will get the most number of opportunities in a game to score runs. Also, he would be looking to improve upon his strike rate.
