South Africa beat India by four wickets in the second T20I. After limiting India to a modest total in the first innings, the visitors put on a superb batting effort to comfortably win the match. They now lead by 2-0 in the five-match series. India now needs to win all their remaining games to win the series.

South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Barabati Stadium. India got off to a shaky start after losing Ruturaj Gaikwad (one) early on. Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer then put on a good show, guiding the hosts through the first six overs without losing another wicket. In the powerplay, India scored 42 runs. However, Kishan (34) quickly lost his wicket after that.

After that, India struggled, and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Rishabh Pant (five), Hardik Pandya (nine), and Iyer (40) fell by the 14th over for a total of 98. Dinesh Karthik, however, was on fire and carried over his form from the Indian T20 League 2022. The men in blue lost another wicket, but Karthik's cameo of 30 runs in 21 balls helped them reach 148 runs in the first innings.

The Proteas struggled to get going during their chase as they lost three wickets in the powerplay. Temba Bavuma, on the other hand, stayed strong as Heinrich Klaasen joined him. The two had a solid run in the game after that. However, it was Klaasen who had showed no mercy on the Indian bowlers. He kept hitting the boundaries for fun. Klassen and Bavuma scored 64 runs together until the 13th over. Yuzvendra Chahal broke the partnership with  Bavuma's (35) wicket for a team total of 93.

Meanwhile, Klaasen reached his half-century and continued to dominate the bowlers. Harshal Patel eventually dismissed him for 81 in the 17th over. This is the highest T20I score by a South African batter against India. The side lost one more wicket, but David Miller (20) completed the game comfortably in the 19th over.
