India will opt for UAE to finish IPL if they have an option: Salman Butt

Former Pakistan batsman Salman Butt believes that the UAE will be the preferred option to host the remaining 31 IPL games. Considering it is the tried and tested option to host the high-profile tournament, it is most likely that the Indian cricket board hosts the tournament once again in the UAE. The 14th IPL season was going on smoothly before the COVID-19 virus hit few players from different franchises. Thus, this prompted the BCCI to postpone the tournament on May 4. The Indian cricket board is now looking at a possible window to conduct the remaining matches of the league.

UAE's climate and conditions will work in India's favour: Salman Butt

Since the league's suspension, several possible options have emerged to host the remainder of the competition. Considering the Indian cricket team will be travelling to the UK for the WTC final and the England series, the UK has become one of the front-runners to host IPL 2021. A couple of other counties have also written to the ECB expressing their desire to host the tournament. According to several sources, several English county clubs, including Surrey, Warwickshire, and Lancashire, have expressed their willingness to host the remaining IPL games in September. Sri Lanka Cricket is also keen to host the remainder of the 14th IPL season.

During a discussion on his YouTube channel, Salman Butt stated that the UAE is the best alternative to stage the remaining games of the tournament. Butt also reckoned that UAE's climate and conditions would work in India's favour rather than England's climate. The veteran batsman also highlighted that England's surfaces and its tiredness could go against India. England is also going to host seven Test matches and The Hundred tournament within the next two months.

Team India is scheduled to travel to England for participating in the final of the maiden season of the WTC. The most awaited event of the year will commence from June 18 to June 22 against Southampton. After WTC, the Men in Blue will be playing against England team for a five-match Test series. The series is scheduled to commence on August 4. It is also known that the players and staff are planned to board the flight to England on June 2.
