The Indian Cricket Team has been struggling to get the best results since their exit in the semi-finals of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The jam-packed schedule might be the reason for their failure of late. Since the World Cup, India faced New Zealand in a complete white-ball series and is currently in Bangladesh for an ODI and Test series.

India lost the ODI series to New Zealand and suffered an embarrassing defeat to Bangladesh in the first ODI. According to recent reports, the Indian Cricket Board intends to hire a new head coach for the T20I format.

An Indian Cricket Board official told Inside Sports that, similar to the split captaincy, the board is seriously considering bringing in a new coach for the T20I format in January, which could mean that the Indian team will have replaced Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma for the January tour to Sri Lanka.

"T20 is a different sport. It has a tough calendar and regular events. The board wants Dravid to focus on ODIs and Tests, while the new coach handles just the T20Is. I can confirm that India will soon have a new coach,” The official told Inside Sports.

India against New Zealand and Bangladesh

In the meantime, the tight cricketing schedule has resulted in Indian players taking frequent rests. This has become a cause of worry for the team management as the players are constantly in and out of the team. Senior players including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul had taken a rest for the New Zealand tour. Hardik Pandya was appointed as the T20I captain for the series, while Shikhar Dhawan was in charge of the ODI team.

The Men in Blue are currently in Bangladesh for an ODI and Test series. The team led by Rohit Sharma faced a humiliating one-wicket defeat in the first ODI at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday. The same venue will host the next match on the 7th of December.
