Overseas players have always been important to the Indian T20 League, and the 2022 season was also highly dependent on them. From scoring centuries to getting the team across the line, the 2022 season saw some spectacular performances from the foreign players. Here are the players from the season that would combine for the best overseas playing XI.
Top Order
Jos Buttler- Jos Buttler had a fantastic season with the bat this season. He was the highest run-scorer of the season with 863 runs at an average of 57.5 in 16 games. Buttler also hit four centuries and four half-centuries in the season.
Quinton de Kock- Quinton de Kock took some time to get going but came back strong in the latter half of the season. He scored 508 runs in 15 appearances this season. De Kock also had the highest score of the season, 140 runs in 70 balls.
Mitchell Marsh- The all-rounder Michell Marsh did not get many chances to play for the Delhi team due to his injuries, but he made the most out of his little time. In eight appearances this season, he scored 251 runs. He was also productive with the ball, taking four wickets in four innings.
Middle Order
David Miller- This season, David Miller played a significant role in Gujarat's performance. He excelled at the job of a middle-order batter. He had the best average of 68.7 this season, with 481 runs in 16 games.
Liam Livingstone- Liam Livingstone played a strong game for Punjab this season, scoring a lot of boundaries. He also had the longest six of the season (117 meters). He scored 437 runs in 14 games at a massive strike rate of 182.
Andre Russell- Playing for Kolkata, Andre Russell gave the most consistent performances for the team. He gave the perfect all-rounded performance, scoring 335 runs in 12 innings and taking 17 wickets in 13 games.
Rashid Khan- Rashid Khan had an off-season at the start. However, he came back stronger and ended with 19 wickets at an economy of 6.6 in 16 games. He was also handy with the bat scoring 91 runs at a strike rate of 206 in eight innings.
Tailenders
Wanindu Hasaranga- Bangalore's 10.75 crores buy paid off this season with a brilliant performance. He was the tournament's second-highest wicket-taker with 26 wickets in 16 games. He also had a brilliant economy of 7.5 this season.
Kagiso Rabada- Kagiso Rabada took his time getting into a groove, but he was unstoppable after that. The South African fast took 23 wickets in 13 games for Punjab, ranking third in the season overall.
Josh Hazlewood- Josh Hazlewood performed admirably for Bangalore this season. He took 20 wickets in his 12 appearances for the team and bowled at a decent economy rate of 8.1 in the season.
Tim Southee- Tim Southee did not play in all of Kolkata's games, but he played excellently in the little chance that he got. He was benched for a few games to make room for Pat Cummins. In nine games, he took 14 wickets at an economy rate of 7.86.
