The group stage of the Indian T20 League 2022 is approaching its end. However, the race to the playoffs is not over just yet. Gujarat and Lucknow have sealed two spots in the top four, and Rajasthan look all set to take one of the remaining two spots. For the fourth spot, Bangalore and Delhi are in contention. However, the outcome of the game between Mumbai and Delhi shall determine the fourth team to qualify for the playoffs.

If Mumbai are able to beat Delhi, Bangalore will stay in the fourth place and qualify for the playoffs. If not, Delhi will take the fourth spot in the playoffs. Recently, Delhi's co-owner Parth Jindal went on to take a dig at Bangalore for depending on Delhi's match to make it to the top four. He suggested that his team did not want to rely on any other team's outcome to qualify for the playoffs.

"Never liked anyone doing any favors for us anyway - equation is simple - we win on Saturday and we get the opportunity of going further in @IPL- if we don’t - then we are out and don’t deserve to be in the playoffs, have full confidence in my boys - let’s do this @DelhiCapitals," he tweeted.

In the meantime, Bangalore beat Gujarat in the 67th encounter of the tournament on Thursday. They kept their playoff hopes alive. The bowlers did well to restrict Gujarat to a modest score of 168. During their chase, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis gave the team a perfect start. In fact, the Indian batter went on to score a brilliant half-century in the match. Glenn Maxwell's spectacular cameo ultimately ensured that his team win the game rather comfortably.

The Delhi team, on the other hand, will play their last league game against Mumbai on the 21st of May at Mumbai's fortress, i.e. the Wankhede Stadium. The playoffs are scheduled to begin on May 24th. The final will take place on May 29th.
