Bangalore beat Lucknow by 14 runs in the Indian T20 League 2022 Eliminator. Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik were absolutely brilliant. The bowlers of the Bangalore-based franchise responded with respectable performances as well. The squad overcame a classic KL Rahul knock to clinch the victory. Bangalore will now compete in the second qualifier as they have now eliminated Lucknow from the competition.

At Eden Gardens, KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bat first. Despite losing an early wicket, Bangalore had a promising start with the bat. Rajat Patidar joined Virat Kohli at the crease and began hitting right away. The youngster was making quick runs, but Kohli was struggling. During the powerplay, the pair scored 52 runs. A few wickets in the middle overs though, left the team in a spot of bother. Kohli (25), Glenn Maxwell (nine), and Mahipal Lomror (14) all fell for 115 runs in 13.1 overs.

Meanwhile, Patidar completed his half-century. He then proceeded to play a magnificent knock. After being joined by Dinesh Karthik, he went took the aggressive route. Patidar completed his century with a six in the 18th over. The two kept the boundaries flowing. Bangalore reached 207 in the final two overs with some more boundaries. In their partnership, the two scored 92 runs. Karthik scored 37 runs in 23 balls, while Patidar scored 112 runs in 54 balls.

Lucknow had a shaky start to a big chase, losing two early wickets. KL Rahul, on the other hand, was looking good, leading the team to 62 runs in the first six overs. Deepak Hooda and Rahul, however, struggled to settle following the powerplay. They slowed down, but Rahul got to his half-century with a six in the 14th over. Lucknow needed 83 runs in the final six overs of the game. Hooda (45) then attempted to accelerate, but was bowled by Wanindu Hasaranga after hitting two sixes in the following over.

The following three overs produced 32 runs, at the cost of the wicket of Marcus Stoinis (nine). The equation came down to 33 runs in the final two overs. Rahul (79) tried his best, but was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood in the 19th over. The bowler kept his cool to take another wicket, this time of Krunal Pandya (0). In the over, he only gave up nine runs. In the end, Harshal Patel performed brilliantly as he too allowed only nine runs in the final over to complete the game.
