The Indian T20 League 2022 is nearly over, with only the final match remaining. Rajasthan and Gujarat will meet in the all-important game at the Narendra Modi Stadium on the 29th of May.
While these two teams have had a great season, most other teams struggled to find the perfect playing combination throughout the season. Here are the unsold players who could have done well in different teams in Indian T20 League 2022
Martin Guptill- Kolkata
The Kolkata team struggled to find the right opening pair throughout the season. They kept switching between options but couldn't commit to any of them.
Earlier, Alex Hales was supposed to be their primary opener, but he decided to opt-out of the tournament. Martin Guptill, with his explosive batting, could have been a handy option for the team at the top of the order.
Dhawal Kulkarni- Chennai
After losing Deepak Chahar due to an injury, Chennai's fast bowling unit lacked experience. Some of their young bowlers did well in the season, but failed to win them matches regularly.
Dhawal Kulkarni could have filled that void for the men in yellow and acted as a backup in the absence of Chahar. Hailing from Mumbai, the 33-year old has a great experience playing on the wickets in Maharashtra.
Dawid Malan- Hyderabad
Dawid Malan could have provided the Hyderabad team with some solidarity in their batting lineup. While the orange army had some great performances with the bat, Malan could have increased their squad depth.
The former number one T20 batter could have been a floater in the team. He could have played different roles as per the team requirements.
Steve Smith- Punjab
Punjab had a brilliant squad on paper, but that could not translate into good performances on the field. The batting line-up never looked settled in the season, and Steve Smith could have been a great addition to the team.
The Australian batter could have fit perfectly in the top-order for the team. He could have been the anchor in the season, while others could have played with freedom.
Shakib Al Hasan- Mumbai
This season, Mumbai lacked the experience of a spinner in their lineup. They explored a few diverse perspectives, but they did not provide the greatest outcomes in the games.
Shakib Al Hasan could have been a great member of the team. In addition to his bowling, the star all-rounder could have given their batting lineup good depth as well. Thus, his all-round skills would have come in handy.
