England opening batter Jason Roy has pulled out of the 15th season of the Indian T20 League citing bio-bubble fatigue. Roy was signed by Gujarat last month in the mega auction. Notably, he informed the franchise about his decision last week but the team hasn't announced the replacement yet. Recently, the right-hander was part of Quetta Gladiators in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League.

In that tournament, a strict bio-bubble was followed as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wanted to ensure that the league gets concluded as per schedule. On the other hand, the 31-year-old amassed 303 runs in six games averaging 50.50 and striking at 170.22 with one hundred. His side finished fifth in the league stages. This is second time since 2020 when Roy has pulled out of the cash-rich league.

In 2020, he was signed by Delhi but pulled out of the tournament due to personal reasons. That season was played in the United Arab Emirates due to high number of COVID19 cases in India. Talking about the upcoming season, a strict bio-bubble will be made, although the protocols hasn't been shared with the teams yet.

The season will start on March 26 with the league matches to be played at four venues of Mumbai and Pune. It is believed that Roy is pulling out of the tournament as his second child was born in January and has to stay away for two months. He has played for three teams before Gujarat in the ITL.

In 2017, he was signed by now-defunct Gujarat, which was included in the tournament Chennai and Rajasthan were suspended for two seasons. In 2018, he was signed by Delhi and last year, he was signed by Hyderabad. The 2019 World Cup winner has played 13 games and amassed 329 runs, striking at 129.01 and averaging 29.90.
