Indian T20 League 2022: Here's how Chennai can still qualify for the playoffs

Chennai, one of the most successful teams in the Indian T20 League, has not been at its best in the 2022 season. The team has struggled to find form and has not lived up to the expectations. Out of the ten games that they have played this season, they have won three of them and lost seven. The men in yellow currently stand ninth in the points table.

The main worry for them this season has been their quick bowling. Deepak Chahar was supposed to be their primary fast bowler. However, the pacer suffered from a quadriceps injury before the start of the tournament. As a result Chahar was ruled out of the tournament. Due to an injury, Adam Milne was also ruled out of the tournament. Chennai was left with a few inexperienced full-time fast bowlers. They attempted to make the most of their resources, but that did not work out.

The team captaincy has also been a talking point for the team this season. Ravindra Jadeja was named team captain ahead of the tournament's 15th season. However, his personal form and, more crucially, the team's performance suffered. They lost six of their eight games under his captaincy. He then handed over the captaincy back to the former captain MS Dhoni.

The veteran cricketer has always taken the team out of difficult situations. The fans of the team will expect him to produce a miracle this time around as well and help them reach the playoffs.

After losing seven games, the Chennai team still has a chance to make it to the playoffs this season. But, they will have to win all of their remaining games and will depend on the results of other teams. They play their next four games against Delhi, Mumbai, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
