The seventh match of the ongoing Indian T20 League is between Lucknow and Chennai. The match will be played on the 31st of March at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Both the teams have played a match already, and both have lost their first game. This match will be important for each as they need to kickstart their count on the points table. Chennai lost the season opener against Kolkata, and there weren't too many positives for the team. Lucknow, too, had a similar performance as they did not play to the best of their abilities.
The Lucknow team did not have the start they were looking for in the ITL. Put in to bat first, they had a flimsy start. They lost a few early wickets, which put a lot of pressure on the batters to follow. This time around, they will have to be a lot more careful with how they approach the start of their innings. KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock are both great batters and can give them the start they need. They will also have to be a little more effective with the ball. They got a few early wickets in the last match, but they then allowed batters to build partnerships. Lucknow will have to be a little more attacking with the ball to get better results in the next match.
Just like Lucknow, Chennai too had a poor start and they lost a few early wickets after being asked to bat first. Only one batter from the team shone in the innings as MS Dhoni scored a half-century. This score was not enough for the team to put a good total, and the bowlers were left with nothing to defend. In the next match, their top order will have to settle down. They have a new opening pair this season, which is capable of scoring good runs. Their middle-order, too, can give good competition to its oppositions.
Pitch Conditions
The wicket at the Brabourne stadium has a good carry and bounce. It also has some swing and extra pace. The fast bowlers will have a good time at this wicket and will look to take advantage early on. The team winning the toss would want to bowl first to take the advantage and chase the target later on.
Probable Playing XI's
Neither of the teams will look to make changes to its lineup. Lucknow had some good performances, and Chennai does not believe in making unnecessary changes.
