Delhi and Mumbai will start their campaign in the Indian T20 League on March 27 at the Brabourne Stadium. This game will be the first of the double-headers to be played on the day. Both teams delivered contrasting performances last season. The Rishabh Pant-led side made it to the playoffs after finishing first in the points table. However, they lost to Chennai and Kolkata in Qualifiers One and Two. This meant that they missed out on the place in the final.

On the other hand, the Rohit Sharma-led side finished fifth with seven wins and as many losses in 14 games. This season, both teams have had a major transformation and will be hoping for better results.

The five-time champions let go of some senior players and brought in the likes of Tim David, Daniel Sams, Tymal Mills among others. Mumbai does look a strong batting side on paper. However, they lack a quality bowler who can support Jasprit Bumrah. Yes, Mills and Sams are good bowlers but they have not been as consistent as someone like Trent Boult, who complimented Bumrah to perfection.

Meanwhile, Delhi too face the same problem. The likes of Tim Seifert, Prithvi Shaw, Rovman Powell, Rishabh Pant makes the team look a force to reckon with. However, when you look at their bowling, without the likes of Rabada and Nortje, it looks pretty bleak. Young guns like Chetan Sakariya, Khaleel Ahmed need to have a very good season.

Pitch Report

The surface at the Brabourne Stadium is expected to be belter especially given that this is the early stage of the tournament. With the game to be played in the daytime, the dew factor is out of the question. Notably, both teams will look to bowl first given the nature of the surface and small ground dimensions

Team Combinations

Delhi

The 2022 finalists are missing David Warner, who is Pakistan for Australia's multi-format tour. Notably, Warner has been rested for the limited-overs leg but still, he won't be available for the cash-rich league before April 8. They will also miss the services of Anrich Nortje.

Probable playing XI

Prithvi Shaw, Tim Seifert, KS Bharat, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Rovman Powell, Sarfaraz Khan/Mandeep Singh, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav/Lalit Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Chetan Sakariya

Mumbai

The five-time winners will miss the services of Suryakumar Yadav, who is recovering from a hairline fracture, sustained last month.

Probable Playing XI

Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Tilak Varma, Anmolpreet Singh, Kieron Pollard, Tim David, Daniel Sams, Sanjay Yadav, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah, Tymal Mills
