Rajasthan take on Delhi in the 58th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Wednesday. Rajasthan are currently sitting at number three on the points table with 7 wins in 12 matches.
And, on the other hand, Delhi find itself at the 5th spot. They have only secured 5 wins in 11 matches and their chances of reaching the playoffs are hanging by a thread.
Team News:
Rajasthan:
After suffering two consecutive defeats, Rajasthan returned to winnings ways with a 6-wicket win over Punjab in their last match. Riding on a game-changing spell from Yuzvendra Chahal, Rajasthan restricted Punjab to 189 runs in the first innings. Later, Sanju Samson and Co. chased down the score in 19.4 overs, thanks to valuable knocks from Jaiswal and Hetmyer.
Players to watch out for:
- Jos Buttler
Buttler is currently the highest run-getter in the tournament. In 11 matches, he has 618 runs at an average of 61.80 and a strike rate of 152.22. Buttler’s, though, hasn’t played a big knock in recent games and you could see one on Wednesday.
- Yashasvi Jaiswal
On his return into playing XI, Jashasvi Jaiswal played a match-winning knock of 68 runs in 41 balls. He looked solid right from the start on his innings and is expected to replicate a similar knock.
- Yuzvendra Chahal
With the ball, Yuzvendra Chahal continues to be their biggest bet. He exhibited a match-defining spell of 3 for 28 in 4 overs in the last game. The Indian spinner currently has the most wickets this season, with 22 to his name in 11 matches.
Probable Playing XI:
Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Riyan Parag, Rassie van der Dussen, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Sen
Delhi:
Delhi suffered a humiliating 91-run defeat in the last game against Chennai. Chasing 208, they were bundled out for a paltry score of 117 runs on the board. The fans would hope for much better performance in the next game.
Players to watch out for:
- David Warner
David Warner got out for 19 off 12 in the last match. He is their highest run-scorer this season and expectations will be high from the Australian cricketer. In 9 matches, Warner has 375 runs at an average of 53.57.
- Rishabh Pant
The Delhi skipper, unfortunately, is getting out after getting valuable starts with the bat. He is due for a big knock and we might see a special knock from his willow on Wednesday.
- Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav had a poor outing with the ball in the last match but he has bowled exceedingly well in this season. In 11 matches, he has 18 wickets at 19.56. It will be interesting to see if he could make an impact with the ball against Rajasthan.
Probable Playing XI:
David Warner, Srikar Bharat/Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Rovman Powell, Axar Patel, Ripal Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Anrich Nortje
Pitch Report:
The 58th match is slated to be played between Rajasthan and Delhi at DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. The pitch isn’t too great for the batters as it’s slightly on the slower side. There will be grip and turn for the spinners and anything between 160 and 180 should be a par score here. Both teams should look to bowl first upon winning the toss.
