Punjab defeated Bangalore by a margin of 54 runs in the 60th match of the Indian T20 League 2022. Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone contributed significantly to the team's enormous total of 210 in the first innings. Following that, Punjab's bowlers delivered a flawless performance to secure a victory for their side.

Bangalore asked Punjab to bat first after winning the toss at the Brabourne Stadium. Jonny Bairstow was a man on a mission, and aimed to get the best results for his team. He started scoring immediately and ruthlessly attacked bowlers. Despite losing Shikhar Dhawan (21) early on, he kept scoring runs at a strike rate of over 200. He got to his half-century, and helped the team score the biggest powerplay score of this season (83). He scored 66 runs in 29 balls before being dismissed by Shahbaz Ahmed in the 10th over for a team total of 101/3.

Liam Livingstone then ensured that the runs for the Mayank Agarwal-led side continued. While wickets continued to fall at one end, he remained calm. He slammed a few balls and quickly got to his half-century mark. Harshal Patel dismissed him in the final over after he had scored 70 runs off 42 balls. The last over yielded two more wickets. Thus, In the first innings, Punjab scored 209 runs, and lost nine wickets in the process.

Bangalore lost early wickets in their chase. In the powerplay, Kagiso Rabada and Rishi Dhawan took wickets to reduce the men in red and blue to 44/3 in the first six overs. Bangalore's wickets kept falling regularly, and the team was unable to have any big partnerships. Rajat Patidar (26) and Glenn Maxwell (35) tried to build a partnership but couldn't do much. The duo added 66 runs in the partnership.

Bangalore needed 90 runs to win in five overs. In the next two overs, Rabada and Rahul Chahar gave 17 runs. Bangalore lost another wicket in the end, but Josh Hazlewood and Mohammed Siraj held on to the final wicket. With the victory, Punjab climbed to the sixth spot on the points table.
