Indian T20 League 2022: Star pacer joins Kolkata camp

In what comes as good news for all the Kolkata fans, their star pacer Pat Cummins has finally arrived in Mumbai. He has joined the Kolkata camp for the Indian T20 league 2022. It is pertinent to note that the Australian seamer has been playing for the franchise for quite a while now.

Cummins was purchased for INR 7.25 crore at the mega auction. However, he couldn't feature in the first few matches of this edition due to international commitments. He was leading Australia during the three-match Test series against Pakistan. As a matter of fact, his side went on to win the series by a 1-0 margin.

Although Cummins has reached the team hotel, he will have to undergo a three-day quarantine before joining his Kolkata teammates. This means that he will only be available to play from April 6. Kolkata's next match is slated to take place on the same day against Mumbai. The franchise took to social media to update their fans about the arrival of the Aussie pacer.

They posted a video where Cummins expressed his excitement over representing the two-time champions once again. Australia's Test captain also mentioned that this is his fifth year with Kolkata.

“It’s great to be back! It is going to be interesting, keen to be around Baz and the rest of the team and chat about the last year or two. I still feel very much the same. I think this is my fifth year with Kolkata, so can’t wait to see everyone. It's been over a year since the first half of the last ITL. It's great to be back.

"Even last ITL after COVID, I hadn't really bowled a lot without a big break whereas now, having a lot of cricket even though it's Test cricket I feel like I'm bowling a lot better. So feeling good, can't wait to play some T20 cricket," said Pat Cummins. As far as Kolkata are concerned, then they have won two out of their three games of far in the Indian T20 league 2022. Thus, the addition of Cummins will further strengthen their bowling unit.
