Hyderabad took on Lucknow in the 12th match of the Indian T20 League 2022. Lucknow won the match by a margin of 12 runs.

Hyderabad won the toss and decided to field first. Lucknow did not have a good start to their innings losing 3 wickets in the first 5 overs. Deepak Hooda and KL Rahul put together a partnership of 87 runs. Hooda scored 51 runs off 33 deliveries with 3 sixes and 3 fours. KL Rahul was dismissed for 68 off 50 deliveries. He hit 6 fours and 1 six. Lucknow managed a total of 169 runs in their 20 overs. The pick of the bowlers for Hyderabad was Washington Sundar who picked up 2 wickets in his four overs conceding just 28 runs. Romario Shepherd and T. Natarajan also picked up 2 wickets each.

Hyedrabad made an unsteady start to their chase. They were 38 for 2 down within the first six overs. Kane Williamson's wicket early in the innings was a big blow.  After this Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi put together a partnership of 44 runs.  Rahul Tripathi scored 44 runs off 30 deliveries. After this Nicholas Pooran tried his best to win the game for his team. But the Lucknow bowling was too good on the day. Pooran was dismissed for 34 runs off 24 deliveries. Hyderabad were bundled out for 157 runs, as they lost the match by 12 runs. They have lost both their games at the beginning of their journey in the tournament.
