The Indian T20 League player auction for the 2023 season will be held in Kochi on December 23. Ahead of the event, as many as 991 players have registered themselves to go under the hammer. Out of them, 714 are Indians while 277 players are from overseas. Last month, all 10 teams revealed their retained and released players ahead of the auction. Teams are looking to build themselves for the 16th season.
Not to forget, this time around, the team had the retain as many players as they could, unlike last time. Late last year, two new teams, Lucknow and Gujarat were added to the mix. To make level playing for them, the Indian Cricket Board decided to conduct a mega auction. In other words, teams could retain a maximum of four players (pre-existing ones). On the other hand, the likes of Lucknow and Gujarat could sign three players each.
Meanwhile, the teams are left with a specific amount in their purse according to their retentions. On the other hand, players are divided into a different set of base prices.
