Team India are currently getting prepared for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka at home. After winning the three-match T20I series, it will be a crucial series for the Men in Blue in the context of the 50-over World Cup in 2023. All senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli took a rest from the T20I series.

However, they will be back in action in the ODI series, starting on 10 January 2023. Speaking of the squad, KL Rahul has also made a comeback from rest. But, Hardik Pandya will be the new vice-captain. The Indian selectors also went with Jasprit Bumrah in the final squad for this series against the Lankans.

Jasprit Bumrah missed both the Asia Cup and the 20-20 World Cup in 2022 due to injuries

Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action since the middle of 2022. He missed the opportunity to play in both the Asia Cup and the 20-20 World Cup that year. Before the World Cup, the Board tried to rush him in order to get fit for the mega event. But, now, reports have come out that the pacer is going to miss the entire series. According to the reports to Cricbuzz, the Board have taken the decision that Jasprit Bumrah will not play the ODI series against Sri Lanka because India's important assignments Test series against Australia, WTC, and World Cup.

The official statement reads: “The pacer has undergone rehabilitation and has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will be joining the Team India ODI squad soon." Bumrah last played in team India in a home T20 series against the Aussies. So, it was a big blow for the Men in Blue ahead of the series. Fans also become surprised as they all started to see this pacer back in action. In the first two matches against Australia, he took just one wicket by conceding too many runs. The three ODIs between India and Sri Lanka will be played on January 10 (Guwahati), January 12 (Kolkata), and January 15 (Thiruvananthapuram).
