Punjab defeated defending champions Chennai by 54 runs to make it two wins in three games. Winning the toss, Ravindra Jadeja decided to bowl first. Punjab did not have the best starts as they lost two early wickets for just 14 runs. Liam Livingstone then scored runs with some intense power. He raced his innings to 60 runs in 32 balls, hitting five fours and five sixes. Shikhar Dhawan also supported him well by staying solid at the other end. He scored 33 runs in 24 balls. However, both players were dismissed in quick succession. After the two wickets, Punjab had a collapse and were restricted to 180 runs.

With the ball, Chennai bowlers were right on the money for most part. Chris Jordan was their star of the bowling unit as he picked up two wickets in the match. Dwayne Pretorius also bowled well to get two wickets in his four overs.

Chennai was not at their best while chasing 181 runs. They lost their openers early on in the innings and were restricted to 36-5 in 8th over. They kept losing wickets and were bowled out for 126. Shivam Dube played a cameo of 57 in 30 balls but the match was way beyond his reach.

Punjab bowlers had Chennai batters by their throat for the most of the chase. The youngster Vaibhav Arora did well to get two early wickets, while  Rahul Chahar was clinical to dismiss the tail. Chahar bagged three wickets in the match.
