Delhi beat Kolkata by 44 runs in the 19th match of the Indian T20 League. Kolkata won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Brabourne Stadium. Prithvi Shaw and David Warner gave Delhi a fiery start as the pair added 93 runs on the board before Shaw departed in the 9th over. He scored 51 runs in 29 balls with seven fours and two sixes. Warner continued to go hard and reached his half-century with six.

Along with him, Rishabh Pant played a short cameo of 27 in 14 balls but lost his wicket to Andre Russell in the 13th over. Delhi then lost Lalit Yadav, Rovman Powell, and Warner in a span of four overs. In the end, Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel played great cameos as they scored 29 runs and 22 runs respectively. They helped Delhi reach a massive total of 215 in the first innings. Sunil Narine took two wickets in the innings while Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, and Andre Russell got a wicket each.

Kolkata needed a good start to chase the huge target set by Delhi. Unfortunately, they lost both their openers, Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane, to Khaleel Ahmed within the powerplay. Kolkata was 43 for two after six overs. Nitish Rana and Shreyas Iyer then stitched a good partnership but Rana fell in the 12th over at a score of 107. Iyer went on to score a half-century but Kuldeep Yadav dismissed him soon after. He scored 54 runs in 33 balls with five fours and two sixes in the innings.

Ahmed then struck his third wicket to get rid of Sam Billings in the 15th over. After that, it was a complete Kulpeed Yadav show as he picked up three wickets in the 16th over. He got rid of the in-form Pat Cummins, Sunil Narine, and Umesh Yadav. Russell then tried to score a few runs but the target was way beyond his reach.
