Mumbai vs Rajasthan (Image source- BCCI)
Mumbai will face off against Rajasthan in the 9th match of the Indian T20 League. The match is set to be played at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on the 2nd of April. This will be the second match of both teams. While Rajasthan has two points on the board, Mumbai is yet to open its account. This will be an important match for both teams, for Rajasthan to keep the momentum alive early on, and for Mumbai to get their first win of the season.
Mumbai had a few problems in the last match in both departments. They would look to rectify that in their clash against Rajasthan. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave a good start to the Mumbai team, but the middle order was not able to capitalize on it. They have some quality batters in the set-up, and they will have to step up their game this time around. Their bowling too was not at the best. Most of their bowlers went for high runs and could not defend a decent total. They have Jasprit Bumrah and some other talented players who can change that in the next game.
Rajasthan had a near-perfect game in their season opener. They were good with the bat and the ball, and they did well on the field too. Most of their batters did well to get to a good total in the match, especially Sanju Samson. The team skipper scored an exceptional half-century to get the team in a good position. The bowlers were also at their best as most of them were economical and took regular wickets. Chahal was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up three wickets and conceded just 22 runs. They would want to continue the same in the next game.
Pitch report
The pitch at the DY Patil stadium has a little coverage of grass and is firm which will assist the fast bowlers to some extent. Apart from that, batters will have a good outing on this wicket. Dew will not be a major factor here as it is a day game. But still, the team winning the toss would want to bowl first in these conditions.
Probable playing XI's
Suryakumar Yadav, who missed the last game for Mumbai, has now joined the team and can star in the match. Rajasthan's playing XI looked strong in the match and they might go unchanged in the next match.
