The Indian T20 League has established itself as a global force to be reckoned with. The cash-rich league is presently looking for new broadcasting partners. According to reports, the e-auction for the same has ended. With the conclusion of the auction, the competition has reached an impressive milestone.
The e-auction for the Indian T20 League Media Rights for the 2023-2027 cycle has surpassed the INR 100 crore per match mark. The television rights were sold for INR 23,575 crore, with each game costing INR 57.5 crore. The auctioned digital rights were worth INR 20,500 crore, with each match costing INR 50 crore. Sony, the first broadcaster until 2017, is said to have astonished everyone by reclaiming media rights. Digital rights are said to be held by Jio or Hotstar.
The overall cost of broadcasting a single Indian T20 League 2022 match is INR 107.5 crores. The Indian T20 League has now eclipsed the English Premier League (EPL) (INR85.9 crores) per match) to become the world's second-most costly league. Only America's National Football League (NFL) (INR 132 crores) is ahead of the Indian T20 League.

Over the tournament's 2023-27 cycle, at least 410 games will be played, taking the overall worth of the league to INR 44,075 crores. Furthermore, the final selling prices of the non-exclusive special package (base price INR 18 crores) and the Rest of the World package (base price INR 3 crores) have not been disclosed.

For the 2018-2022 cycle, the Indian Cricket Board previously got INR 16347.50 crores from Star Sports and Disney+ Hotstar. "The bidding action will be a bet on the India story over the coming decade. Bidders are putting money on the promise that data-consuming Indians will dictate the fortunes of every business, from retail to banking, and from travel to education," Karan Taurani, a media analyst at Mumbai-based Elara Capital, earlier said.
In the meantime, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to reveal the final list of package winners.
