If reports are to be believed, the mega auction for the Indian T20 League 2022 will be held on February 7th and 8th in Bengaluru. A senior BCCI official told that the board is planning to stage the auction in India. He added that unless there are some serious COVID-19 concerns in the country during the time of the auction, it will be held on February 7th and 8th in Bengaluru.

"Unless the COVID-19 situation worsens, we will have the IPL mega auction in India. The two-day event will be held on February 7 and 8 and like other years, we plan to hold it in Bengaluru. Preparations are underway," a senior BCCI official was quoted by Sports NDTV

Earlier, there were few reports that BCCI will stage the auction in UAE. However, with the emergence of the omicron variant of COVID-19, there are few concerns regarding the travel restrictions in UAE. In India, the franchises won't have to face logistical issues at least.

The upcoming season of the ITL will be a 10- team affair, with the addition of two new franchises - Lucknow and Ahmedabad. The eight regular franchises have released the list of their retained players. The two new franchises are yet to select the three players they are allowed to pick before the mega auction. As per reports, KL Rahul, Rashid Khan are likely to play for Lucknow. The franchise has also roped in Andy Flower as their head coach.
