Indian T20 League promo starring MS Dhoni to be withdrawn

The Indian T20 League's promo for the 2022 season starring MS Dhoni created a lot of buzz across the internet. The promo had Dhoni don the look of a bus driver. In the video, he could be seen stopping the bus in the middle of the road to watch the super over of a match. A police officer then come up to him but took no action.

The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has requested that the promotional commercial featuring the former Indian captain to be removed. The council made this recommendation after a road safety organization filed a complaint alleging that the promotion glorified breaking traffic laws.

Ironically, '#YehAbNormalHai' is the tagline of the advertisement, which translates to This now normal.

The issue was taken into consideration by the ASCI, a voluntary industry organization. Thereafter, members of the council's Consumer Complaints Committee (CCC) saw the advertising with officials from the firm that created it.

The ASCI identified a violation of its code of conduct and ordered the advertising company to either alter or withdraw the commercial by April 20. The company has acknowledged it in writing and has said that it will withdraw.

Meanwhile, the tournament has seen some great action already in the 2022 season. Top-tier teams like Mumbai and Chennai have failed to score any points yet this season. Teams like Rajasthan and Punjab, on the other hand, have put in some good performances. The league stages of the tournament are played across four venues in Mumbai and Pune.
