Bangalore defeated Kolkata in a low scoring thriller to get their first win of the Indian T20 League 2022. Kolkata got off to a shaky start, losing a few wickets early on. Throughout the game, they continued losing wickets and it was only because of the efforts of Andre Russell, who hit a few lusty blows, the team could get 128 runs on the board.
Wanindu Hasaranga had a great match with four wickets in his spell. He was paid a lot during the mega auction and he paid dividend for the faith in this game. He proved why he is worth all the hype, as he conceded just 20 runs in the four overs. Harshal Patel was good too as he picked two wickets, conceding just 11 runs. Two of his four overs were maidens.
The second innings was not quite like a T20 game. After losing their top three batters, Bangalore went on the back foot. Umesh Yadav was breathing fire, and the batters had no clue about him. Bangalore's chase was derailed as they lost three wickets in the powerplay. Sherfane Rutherford and David Willey stabilized the innings for Bangalore.
Shahbaz Ahmed then scored some fiery runs. A few wickets in final overs made the game interesting. However, Dinesh Karthik kept his calm and helped Bangalore cross the line. Meanwhile, fans reacted to the match with some hilarious memes.
