The season opener for Rajasthan and Hyderabad was a completely one-sided affair for the Rajasthan team. They had some brilliant performances with the bat and the ball. Almost all their players performed well for them. They were asked to bat first at the toss, and it turned out to be a great one for them. They scored 210 runs in the first innings to get in a great position at the halfway mark of the game.
Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave them a flying start in the powerplay. They added 58 runs without losing a wicket in the first six overs. Jaiswal was dismissed immediately after the powerplay for a score of 20 in 16 balls. Buttler then had a solid partnership with Samson, but he too fell shortly at a score of 35. Devdutt Padikkal then added some quick runs with Sanju Samson. The team skipper scored a half-century and Padikkal scored 41 runs. Shimron Hetmyer then played a cameo of 32 runs in 13, balls hitting two fours and three sixes.
In the second innings, Hyderabad needed a good start as they were chasing a huge target in not so easy conditions. They never got the start they needed and lost a few wickets early on in the chase. They recorded the worst ITL figures in the powerplay with just 14 runs and conceding three wickets.
Hyderabad, however, managed to get some runs in the end. Aiden Markram scored a half-century, Washington Sundar scored a fast 40, and Romario Shepherd played a great cameo. Yuzvendra Chahal was the best performer in the second innings as he got three wickets in the middle overs and conceded just 22 runs in his spell. Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult got two wickets each.
