In the meantime, the month of May was great for the men in red. They were unable to get their hands on their maiden Indian T20 League title, but had some great performances. Dinesh Karthik was their top performer in the tournament, while Wanindu Hasaranga and Rajat Patidar also had major contributions.
The keeper-batter played the role of a finisher in the team, and played the same to perfection. The 37-year-old scored 330 runs in the 16 matches that he played. He had an average of 55 and a strike rate of 1833.33. He also won the super striker of the season award.
On the other hand, Hasaranga was the second-highest wicket-taker of the season, only behind Yuzvendra Chahal. The Sri Lankan player took 26 wickets in the season at an economy rate of 7.5 He also took a four-wicket haul and a five-wicket haul in the season.
Rajat Patidar was the star for the Bangalore team in the playoffs. In the eliminator game against Lucknow, he scored a brilliant century to take the team to the next stage. He then followed it up with a half-century in the qualifier game against Rajasthan. However, he was the lone warrior for the team in the second Qualifier. The Faf du Plessis-led team failed to make it to the final.
