The fans of the Indian T20 League might witness the old days coming back from the 2023 season of the tournament. From 2008 to 2019, teams used to play each other twice (once at home and once away). In 2020, COVID-19 forced the Indian Cricket Board to stage the tournament within three venues in the UAE. In 2021, the tournament was played in India and the UAE.

This year, the omicron variant of COVID-19 forced the board to stage the league stage of the tournament across four venues in Maharashtra. The playoffs were played in Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Now, the impact of the deadly disease is almost none. This is why the board is reportedly looking forward to bringing back the old format of the cash-rich league. This means that the teams will now be able to play at their home venues.

"The next season of men's IPL will also go back to the home and away format with all the 10 teams playing their home matches at their designated venues," Ganguly wrote in an email to all state associations, reported by the Times of India.

Women's Indian T20 League to be played early next year: Reports

Further reports suggest that the inaugural season of the Women's Indian T20 League might be played early next year. The tournament has been demanded by fans for a long time. It is expected to be a six-team tournament.

“The BCCI is currently working on the much-awaited women's IPL. We are expecting to start the first season early next year. More details will follow in the due course," Ganguly wrote.

If the reports are true, the fans from Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Lucknow, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Mohali, Chennai, and Hyderabad will able to witness their teams playing in front of them after a long time. Also, Lucknow will be playing in front of their home crowd for the first time. On the other hand, Gujarat got the taste of it during the Indian T20 League 2022 final.
