VVS Laxman is of the opinion that India’s spin bowling quality is deteriorating in the limited-overs format. Laxman stated that the current Indian spin bowlers are not up to the mark and that India needs to look for other bowling options.

India had high hopes with the spin bowling duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. However, the duo failed to live up to expectations in the recently limited-overs series against England. Yadav lacked the spark in the T20I series against England. He was dropped for the ODI series against the English side. Chahal, meanwhile, managed to make it to the ODI side. However, he endured a dismal ODI outing, failing to pick up a single wicket in the entire series.

Owing to this, Laxman feels that India is in dire need of a 6th bowling option. The World Cup is imminent and India needs a strong bowling lineup. While India has a brilliant set of pace bowlers, they heavily lack in the spin bowling department.

Players such as Rahul Chahar, Axar Patel, and Rahul Tewatia are breathing down their necks. If Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav fail to capitalize, they will surely be replaced.

The emergence of newcomers bodes well for the future of Team India - VVS Laxman

Reviewing India’s Test outings this year, Laxman highlighted the triumph at Australia to be the most significant of them all. India managed to pull off the impossible and won the Test series 2-1. Laxman stated that if India manages to maintain this character, they could do wonders in the World Cup. Laxman also praised the likes of youngsters such as Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant.
