India has announced their squad for the 20-20 World Cup 2022 to begin on October 16. This will mark the start of the first round of Group games. However, the Men In Blue won't be playing in this round. They have been seeded in the Super 12 round that will follow next. On top of that, they will play against arch-rivals Pakistan to begin their campaign.
In the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022, they played each other two times with both teams having a 50-50 record. this is why it would be important to start well in the tournament. Also, not to forget, the 2007 winners lost to Pakistan last year which is why they would want to make it even. Here, we will discuss the strongest possible playing of the Indian team for the tournament.
India's best possible playing XI
- Batters
Skipper Rohit Sharma and vice-captain KL Rahul are certain to open the innings. Former skipper Virat Kohli is likely to bat at number three. However, one school of thought says that Kohli must open given his recent T20I hundred. It will be interesting to see if that happens. Pant is most likely to play as a wicketkeeper. This means that Dinesh Karthik might have to sit out. Also, Suryakumar Yadav is a certainty in the playing XI.
2. All-rounders
There is no doubt that Hardik Pandya will enter the park for the game against Pakistan. In the Asia Cup's Group stage game, he bowled a brilliant match-winning spell. Apart from him, Axar Patel, who is seen as the replacement for Ravindra Jadeja might be included in the team. He is effective with both bat and ball, just as Jadeja has been over the years.
3. Bowlers
The team has been boosted after the comebacks of Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah. The duo was ruled out of the continental tournament due to injuries. However, only Bumrah is likely to play. Apart from him, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal can make it to the team.
