Following an epic series against Australia, India are set to host England in a 4-match Test series, starting from February 5 in Chennai. The first two Tests will take place in M A Chidambaram Stadium whereas the remaining two are scheduled for Ahmedabad. The newly built Motera Stadium will host a day-night Test along with all T20Is of a 5-match series. The 3-match ODI series is going to be played in Pune.

Both India and England have completed their mandatory quarantine period and begun their training sessions in Chennai. Besides their fantastic record in Chennai, Team India was defeated three times by England in that venue. The teams played nine Tests at the Chepauk Stadium.

The first encounter between the two sides was played back in 1934. Team India got five victories whereas England has won three games. One of the nine Tests has resulted in a draw. England's last win in Chennai came in 1985. If England wins the first match in Chennai this time, it will be a unique achievement as they have never won the first Test of a series against India.
