The 2001 Kolkata Test between India and Australia was an iconic and rememberable game for Indian fans. Batting first, Australia amassed 445 all-out, thanks to Matthew Hayden (97), Justin Langer (58), Steve Waugh (110), and Jason Gillispie (46). In reply, the home team was bowled for 171 runs, with VVS Laxman (59) scoring a half-century. For the Aussies, Glenn McGrath took four wickets while Jason Gillispie, Michael Kasprowicz, and Shane Warne took two each.

Waugh asked the Indian team to follow on. The then Sourav Ganguly-led side had a strong start as they scored 232/4 but they needed much more to remain in the hunt for a win. The likes of Laxman and Dravid put together 376 runs for the fifth wicket. The former scored 281 not out while Dravid scored 180. Their innings helped the team propel to 657/7 declared, setting 384 runs for the Aussies to win.

The then Steve Waught-led side lost the game as they were bowled out for 212, losing the game by 171 runs. After the game, the Indian fans and the team celebrated a lot. Meanwhile, a video of Rahul Dravid spraying champagne has been going viral. The current India head coach is known to be quiet and reserved.
