Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians locked horns in the 46th match of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League 2023. Both teams played this match at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. The visitorsโ€™ skipper Rohit Sharma won the flip of the coin and asked Punjab Kings to bat first.

Batting first, Punjab Kings went on to post a big total of 214 runs for the loss of three wickets in the allotted 20 overs. But it was easily chased down by the five-time champions Mumbai Indians and they won the match to register their fifth win in the nine matches they played so far.

The cricket fans were also elated and ecstatic following this win of Rohit Sharmaโ€™s men in the all-important clash against PBKS. They immediately rushed to the micro-blogging site Twitter and came up with a lot of praising reactions for MI whereas they also trolled the Punjab Kings for failing to defend the big total of 214 runs.

Talking about the entire action of the match, the number four batter Liam Livingstone smashed a swashbuckling knock of 82 runs off just 42 runs with seven boundaries and four sixes to his name in the first innings for PBKS. Other than him, the wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma also played an all-important knock of 49 runs off just 27 balls with five boundaries and two sixes with the wood.

Piyush Chawla scalped two wickets for Mumbai Indians alongside one wicket claimed by Arshad Khan.

While chasing the target, the star duo of opener Ishan Kishan and sensational batter Suryakumar Yadav stitched a partnership of 116 runs for the third wicket for MI in the second innings. Ishan Kishan played the quick knock of 75 runs off just 41 balls with seven boundaries and four sixes with the bat alongside 66 runs off just 31 balls with eight boundaries and two sixes by Suryakumar Yadav.

Eventually, the quick cameo of 26 runs off just 10 balls from Tilak Varma with a boundary and three sixes helped Mumbai Indians to chase down the target in 18.5 overs and won the match by a decent margin of six wickets.
